Use this classic recipe that my family has been making for generations to welcome Santa into our homes each year.
Santa’s Christmas Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 C butter
- 1 ½ C sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 4 ½ C flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar
- Add eggs and vanilla; beat well
- Sift dry ingredients together and fold in
- Roll into desired thickness
- Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes, or until done
- The dough does not need to be chilled
For the icing (The frosting is very soft but hardens and keeps the cookies soft)
Ingredients
- ½ C shortening
- 1 bag powdered sugar
- milk
Instructions
- Beat the shortening with a mixer until fluffy
- Add powdered sugar and a tablespoon of milk
- Add more milk in small amounts until the frosting is of spreading consistency
