Campbell joined the Sugar Association team as the Director of Nutrition Policy in January 2021 after working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for four years.
Campbell spent the previous four years at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) where one of her primary responsibilities was advising the Secretary of Agriculture on nutrition policies, such the school meals program and SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). During her time at USDA, Campbell worked on the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which serve as the Government’s authoritative source for food-based recommendations, helping to ensure that the final recommendations were based on strong science.
At the Sugar Association, Campbell does the same, working to ensure nutrition policies are grounded in facts and scientific evidence. Coming from the Department of Agriculture, Campbell’s favorite thing to talk about is how real sugar comes from sugar beets and sugar cane! She also enjoys working on behalf of consumers for more food labeling transparency, believing consumers need clearer information about the ingredients in their products.
In her spare time, Campbell likes getting outdoors to run and hanging out with her golden retriever, Piper. Her family is from South Carolina, but she considers Washington D.C. home.
